WOW, I can’t believe that this is going to be my last post of the year. 2011 has gone by so quickly. It seems that as I get older, the years fly by faster and faster.
2011 has been a great year for me. I thought I would share with you some of my highlights. Don’t worry, my first post of the new year will be back to recipes 🙂
The biggest thing that happened this year is that Jamie and I got married! October 2, 2011 was our big day! After 10 years of dating we finally made it official. For our honeymoon, we rented a car and drove to Boston with a stop in Salem along the way, We had a great time, and I got to try a Lobster Martini from the Lobster Shanty. It just had to be done 🙂
This spring I made a commitment to myself to try and do push-ups. They are so hard to do! For 21 days I resolved to try and do one more push-up than I did the day before. I was able to do it! Don’t get me wrong, it was hard and I couldn’t do them very fast, but I was able to do 21 on the last day. I now have them worked into my normal exercise routine 🙂
In June, my sister, Cherie and I did a 100 hour run. We camped and ran over 4 days. I was hoping to accomplish 200 kilometres but actually was able to finish with 250 kilometres. That was a lot of fun and a huge achievement for myself. (Cherie finished with 325 kilometres)
In preparation for our wedding, Jamie and I took dance lessons. We actually danced swing for our first dance (Joyride by The Killers was our song). No-one knew that we were taking lessons, so our guests were taken by surprise when we started to dance. It was so much fun, I highly recommend dance lessons to everyone!
I took a cooking class from Le Cordon Bleu in December. It was as incredible as it sounds. The class was Cooking with Wine and it was a six hour day, starting with a demonstration and ending with a practical session in their school kitchen. I learned how to make Coq au Vin and brought a full chicken home for dinner. Awesome! I have already signed up for two more classes in 2012.
And, of course, I started my food blog! I never thought I would be so inspired to write about food and recipes but posting twice a week has turned into being a real highlight for me. I love looking at other peoples blogs and getting inspired to create new and different dishes. Twitter has turned out to be a great recipe resource!
Looking forward, 2012 promises to be a fantastic year. I have signed up for swimming lessons starting in January and will do a Try-a-Tri (mini triathalon) in May. My New Years Resolution is to try one new recipe a week. I am sure that you will hear all about it as my blog posts continue 🙂
I wish you and yours a wonderful New Years Eve and that 2012 brings you all love and happiness!
