I have mentioned on previous occasions that we eat a lot of vegetables. Quite often we take raw veggies in our lunch, but by the weekend, the thought of eating another piece of cauliflower or broccoli is not that appealing. (*Note – The exception to this statement is the awesomeness of Cauliflower Pizza) 🙂
Since we are overly familiar with the cauliflower pizza, I wanted to figure out another way to incorporate vegetables into our weekend fare. As I was sitting on the couch, scouring through cookbooks and cooking magazines, it came to me! It was like an epiphany struck me through the open blinds of the living room window. Cauliflower Broccoli Balls! This was going to be amazing.

I was standing at a supermarket check-out when a Canadian Living magazine featuring Slow Cooker recipes caught my eye. As I picked up the magazine and started flipping through it, a Butter Chicken Recipe peaked my interest. Then the dilemma set in; do I need to purchase another cooking magazine, or do I try to find a similar recipe on-line? My pocketbook won the internal debate, and when I arrived home, I started searching for a Slow Cooker Butter Chicken recipe on the internet.

The role of today’s guest food blogger is played by Connie’s husband, Jamie.
Shortly after Connie launched A Ruby Reduction, I briefly entertained the thought of creating a companion blog focused entirely on the hamburger.
It seemed like a splendid idea at first … until I began to realize that in order to maintain such a site, I’d have to eat an (almost) ungodly number of burgers (and buns) on a regular basis.
Hey, I love hamburgers, but a man’s got his limits.

It started out as any other Sunday. Jamie and I were planning out our meals for the week, and we were getting ready to spend another fabulous day in the kitchen. Then Jamie made a suggestion to make some home-made hamburgers for dinner. This was a great idea, since we haven’t had home-made burgers since Super Bowl Sunday when Jamie whipped up a batch of sliders.

Jamie and I eat pizza at least once a week. It is my one true vice. I could eat pizza every day, for every meal, and be quite happy. We love pizza so much, that we even ordered it for our wedding rehearsal dinner 🙂

The role of today’s guest food blogger will once again be played by Connie’s husband, Jamie.
Super Bowl Sunday™ is this weekend and for many (read: Connie), what is on the menu shares equal, if not greater importance, with what is on the television.
If you’re not a fan of football, chances are all this talk about pigskin leading up to the big game has conjured up images of bacon frying away in the pan. OK, perhaps that only happens in our house…
This year, though, it was supposed to be no contest; food was going to play second fiddle.

A few weeks ago we were over at Kim and Ryan’s for an amazing dinner. Kim surprised Jamie with an über delicious Triple BerryCrumble for his birthday. As part of the menu for the evening, Kim made these delicious Spinach Balls. They were very tasty and we ate them all before dinner was served.

In fulfilling my New Years Resolution, I grabbed a cookbook off the shelf in the search of a new chicken soup recipe. As I was turning the pages PB&J Chicken caught my eye. Did that just say what I think it did? When I flipped back I was surprised and intrigued. Peanut Butter and Jam Chicken? Well, I like peanut butter, I like jam and I like chicken, so I had to see how this was going to turn out!

My New Year’s Resolution this year was one new recipe a week. I have a lot of cookbooks, and I often look through them as if they were novels, but I have a hard time following recipes. I always add a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Not that it is a bad thing, but I thought maybe I should try to follow some recipes as they are written this year 🙂
